Laraki wrote a long post on X (formerly Twitter) about the incident. She said, “She is going to speak at a conference later this year and the organizers made an advertisement for it, but when she saw her picture in the advertisement, she felt something strange.”
Laraki claimed that in the photo her shirt pockets were removed and her blouse was unbuttoned, and a bra was added. She said, “I saw my picture in the ad and thought, this doesn’t look right. Is there a bra in my picture and I never noticed?”
I’m talking at a conference later this year (on UX+AI).
I just saw an ad for the conference with my photo and was like, wait, that doesn’t look right.
Is my bra showing in my profile pic and I’ve never noticed…? That’s weird.
I open my original photo.
No bra showing.I put… pic.twitter.com/CpoIgiXtUI

Laraki said that when she looked at her original picture and the picture used in the ad, she realized that a bra had been added to the picture. She said, “Someone edited my picture and removed the blouse and added the bra.”
Organizer admitted mistake and apologized
Laraki contacted the conference organizer about this, who apologized and explained that their social media team had edited the picture using AI. The organizer said that AI was used to enhance the picture, but it tended to sexualize the pictures of women.
Laraki’s post has received more than 2 million views and people have given their reactions on it. One user said, “This is an interesting story, which reflects our culture’s tendency to sexualize pictures of women.”
